What Can We Expect From LEGO Pokemon in 2026?

Now that we’ve finally had time to marinate the announcement of the new LEGO Pokemon theme, we can now speculate on what we could be getting in 2026.

The Pokemon license had been with Mattel under the Mega Bloks/Mega Construx umbrella since the early 2000s. We won’t’ speculate on why The Pokemon Company International decided to switch building block companies but LEGO fans are glad they did. I even guessed it when the LEGO Super Mario theme was announced in 2020 that we could be seeing a LEGO Pokemon theme in the future.

Now fast forward to today where we start guessing what we could be seeing next year. The obvious thing is for minifigure scale sets with molded Pokemon characters with all the main ones like Pikachu, Charmander, Bulbasaur, and Squirtle. With that, we can also have brick-built Pokemon after they’ve evolved.

Speaking of brick-built Pokemon, LEGO could also do larger scale models of said characters but bigger, similar to the LEGO Star Wars R2-D2, BB-8, D-O sets. If LEGO wants to target the 18+ group, they can do the Bowser-sized style builds for the bigger Pokemon like Charizard, Snorlax, Rayquaza, and Gyarados.

I’ve also read online that the Collectible Minifigures line is a good possibility. LEGO can either do various Trainers with their Pokemon or do brick-build Character Packs like with the Super Mario line.

Now what I’ve been wondering is if The Pokemon Company International will put trading cards into the sets. They didn’t really do it with Mega Bloks/Construx but LEGO is … Continue
