SIG SAUER and PROOF Research have teamed up again on the CROSS SAWTOOTH line of bolt-action rifles, expanding to include popular short-action calibers, .308 Winchester and 6.5 Creedmoor. The collaborative goal is to deliver lightweight performance while providing precision and increased versatility to this proven high-country hunting rifle.

In a surprising announcement, Federal has invented a new cartridge for us to salivate over, and they brought along some new technology to go along with it. The cartridge in question is “7mm Backcountry,” and this is not just another magnum. This cartridge pushes the envelope on velocity for 7mm rounds by rethinking the design and possibilities of the casing that houses it.

The new product announcements are starting to pour in from manufacturers after the New Year and as SHOT Show 2025 is quickly approaching. Today, Bergara debuted their new variant of the “Bergara Micro Rifle,” the enhanced rimfire series of the BMR-X.

Primary Arms has announced the PLX HTX-1, an enclosed-emitter reflex sight that seeks to set a new standard for American-made optics. Yes, this is the first completely American-made Primary Arms optic produced in the company’s home base of Houston, Texas. While setting new standards is a tall order, Primary Arms has given me reason to believe for years, and the HTX-1 is looking really good on paper, with features I find particularly desirable.

Mossberg Expands Pump-Action Shotgun Lineup with the new Mossberg 590R and 590RM, both featuring a rotary safety selector and AR-style ergonomics, and the 590M Standoff, designed for compact, close-quarters use. These new additions cater to a variety of tactical and defensive applications while building on Mossberg’s reputation for reliability.

The Palmetto State Armory JAKL in .308 Winchester is now shipping to the public! This gun was a big hit at SHOT Show 2024 and it is on the market before SHOT Show 2025. This long-stroke piston gun has a monolithic upper and feeds from standard Magpul 7.62 magazines.

Mossberg has announced two additions to its 590M lineup: the 590M Professional Series Mag-Fed shotguns and the 590M Breacher. Both models use the 590M’s double-stack magazine system, designed for increased capacity.

Similar in concept to Ruger’s popular American bolt-action series, Mossberg’s MVP Patrol rifles take things a step further with enhanced quality and performance. Ruger’s series is known for providing reliable suppressor-ready firearms with AR-15 magazine compatibility at an affordable price point. Mossberg aims to deliver a similar experience but with upgraded features. While the Ruger American is an excellent rifle in its own right, the MVP Patrol Professional Series brings a more refined touch to the suppressor-ready bolt-action rifle market.

Bushmaster has released the MUTA II BM556, the next generation of the company’s original direct-thread MUTA suppressor line. A lot has changed since the original release in 2021, so it only makes sense that Bushmaster would update this suppressor using modern design and manufacturing techniques to offer shooters up-to-date improvements in ergonomics and performance. With the added benefits of being lighter and more compact, Bushmaster also says the MUTA II BM556 is quieter, an evolution I can get on board with. But that’s not all.
