As If 90s Kids Could Ever Forget These 9 Toys

These toys were the bomb.

As I get older, especially with all the violence I find myself surrounded with nowadays, I start to miss my childhood more and more—the innocence, being carefree and careless. While kids still possess these qualities, their means of entertainment have taken a drastic turn only a measly 20 years later. They rely more on technology than I ever had in my childhood to pass time, and they own toys and games that just seem mediocre.

Of course, however, I’m going to come off as biased, being raised in the 90s, but what 90s kid can say that we didn’t have the coolest toys? Below is a list containing nine toys every 90s kids should remember, and if not, can you really call yourself a true 90s kid?

1. Crazy Bones

Crazy Bones was the ultimate battle. Forget video games, Crazy Bones filled (if not more than) that thrill of competing. I recently found a box of these in my boyfriend's house, so we battled it out, and I had an absolute blast, even if I lost all three rounds.

2. Pogs

Has anyone ever collected them all? Any character you could possibly think of was surely on the face of a pog. Pogs were another great, engaging way to out-compete your friends to see who could flick theirs the farthest.

3. Wikki Sticks

Get creative! You could form Wikki Sticks into any design you would have liked; you could make pictures without wasting paper. Better yet, if you didn't like what you created, no worries because you could have just straightened them out and started over. They never went bad and the wax feeling never lingered on your fingers.

4. Blo Pens

Another great way to get creative in a creative way! Let's face it, markers got boring. Why not go lightheaded in the name of art? Sure, Blo Pens are still around, but they took the fun out of it, replacing the needed pressure of blowing into the pen with a machine that does it for you. Now, where's the fun in that?

5. Tamagotchi

Tamagotchis were the first form of responsibility 90s kids got all on their own. We had to take care of a digital pet for crying out loud!

6. Junie B. Jones

What 90s girl didn't grow up with Junie B. Jones? The first book being published in 2001 gave kids the perfect character to laugh, smile, and cry with.

7. Furbies

How are these things still around? All I have to say is that they were creepy 20 years ago and they're creepy now. And I still don't know how they got to be so popular.

8. Hot Wheels Track Builder

This was the coolest toy that I owned and probably the most used. Yet another toy that can be used in battle. Whose hot wheel can get through the track without crashing?

9. Neopets

Another virtual reality where children took on the responsibility of caring for a pet. Back in the 90s, it was the most stress I've ever experienced, trying to keep all my pets alive and happy.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
