Prior to joining The Spruce, Michelle was on staff at Apartment Therapy Media as Lifestyle Editor at The Kitchn, where she focused on stories about cleaning, organizing, kitchen renovations, and design. Michelle also worked closely with the Chair of the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences as editor at the School of Medicine at Stanford University. She began her editing career with Sunset magazine, covering travel, home, food, and garden.
Since then, Michelle has focused her skills on editing and writing reviews and testing products at The Spruce. When she's not busy editing and writing, she loves discovering new home products and talking about her tried-and-true favorites! Currently, she's testing a CHI Lava Electronic Iron and a Hampton Bay LED Outdoor Solar Spotlight.
Education
Michelle has a Bachelor of Science degree in magazine journalism and a Bachelor of Arts in sociology from San Jose State University. She also has a Master of Arts degree in ethnic studies from San Francisco State University.
