*Please note: Public service hours on site in the Archives and Reference reading rooms in Austin are 9:00 a.m. – 4:45 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, and 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on the second Saturday of each month.
• Advance appointments for use of archival materials in the Archives are encouraged. Walk-ins will be accommodated if space and materials are available.
• Library materials and public computers with internet access are available in the Reference reading room. Appointments are not necessary.
• Lobby and business hours are 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday through Friday in Austin.

Lorenzo de Zavala State Archives and Library Building
Capitol Complex, 1201 Brazos St., Austin, TX 78701
Named a National Literary Landmark, the Lorenzo de Zavala State Archives and Library Building is the agency’s flagship located directly east of the Texas Capitol. View the six flags flown over Texas, our six Texas seal mosaics, the panoramic Texas history mural in our lobby, and our Texas history exhibits. Conduct research at our Reference Reading Room and our Archives Research Room. Note: reading rooms close at 4:45 pm.

Parking
Parking is available in the Capitol Visitors Parking Garage. Pricing may vary, check the State Preservation Board website for more information. Metered spaces are available on San Jacinto St. and throughout the downtown area. Parking in front of the building on Brazos St. is limited and discouraged. In addition to the handicapped parking spaces in the Capitol Visitors Parking Garage, limited handicapped parking spaces for the Capitol Complex are located in the front of the building on Brazos. St. Public Transit - view Capitol Metro website for schedules. Rideshare and dockless mobility options are available in the area.

Please note
We do require all visitors to sign in at our lobby welcome desk. We request that visitors to our public service areas place belongings in lockers located in the reception area or in the Original Documents Reading Room. These free lockers are secured by individual keys for the privacy and safety of your belongings. The interior dimensions of the lockers are 17.5” deep and 10.5” wide and can accommodate items of up to 5’ in length. You may use your laptop computer and our free WiFi, or sign on to the desktop computers provided for your free use.
You may consume food and drinks in our patron’s lounge on the first floor behind our reception area. The lounge contains snack and cold-drink vending machines. In the interest of protecting our valuable documents and resources, we do not allow consumption of food or beverages elsewhere. See our Before You Visit page and our Patron Guidelines page.

The Sam Houston Regional Library and Research Center is located between Houston and Beaumont, three miles north of Liberty at 650 FM 1011, off of State Highway 146.

State Records Center and Talking Book Circulation

The State and Local Records Management Records Center and the Talking Book Program's circulation department are both located at the State Records Center Building, one block south of 45th Street in northwest Austin.
