hey so i'm not from the ghost fandom but how do yall tell the faceless ghouls apart from each other? i know from reading wikipedia that they sign with alchemy symbols but on stage it doesn't make sense how yall do it

Okay so, let me try to explain as best I can. The ones with the alchemy symbols are actually the past ghouls, the current ones don't have them on their uniforms. However they have different patches on their masks! That's personally how I tell them apart, but people also tell them apart by their instruments and where they stand on the stage. The easiest to tell apart I'd say is Dewdrop because he has white horns. I'll reblog a very helpful guide for you that I used when I first started to learn them, it's even updated for the newer ghouls!

Headcanon/Idea

Ghouls of the same element can fuse with each other. Whether it be out of comfort or for battle, they don't gain any extra limbs or eyes but rather the attributes of each ghoul. You can always tell if they are fused by how many tails they have, they don't grow a monstrous size but they do get a bit bigger and taller based on how many ghouls are together. The highest being 4 ghouls all fused at once, though it took a lot out of them to achieve it. Ghouls of different elements can fuse but it's very/highly unlikely to happen, just because of how difficult it is. Quintessence ghouls can fuse with any other element with ease, since there aren't that many of them they can adapt to the others easier than if two different elements tried to fuse. If they're fused together for too long it can hurt them, or if one of the ghouls isn't willing. It takes all parties to consent to the fusion and to dismiss it, so it's not something they do with just any ghoul. Meaning, ghouls only usually fuse with other ghouls that serve under the same Papa.
