Q:
Does the crab Rangoon have any scallions or onions? I'm looking for good crab Rangoon that is literally JUST crab and cream cheese! Can't find them anywhere!
A:
Literally just had some about an hour ago, and I can say that if they are in there you can see them or even notice any big chunks, so they might be minced so fine that they are there but unrecognizable, But I would hate to say No and then it be an… more

The food is excellent! It's of high quality and fresh the price of food is good for the quality . Our waiter was not great . She spilled my piña colada then asked if I wanted another instead of apologizing and brining me another. She reached over to pour me water without asking for permission. It was just poor service . The atmosphere is a whole vibe and it's ok .

Kowloons treats their restaurant like a revolving door. As quick as people come in, they try to rush them out. I've given them passes in the past because their food and drinks used to be good, and I did appreciate that the wait was never TOO long. However I came here for an early dinner this past Friday before the dinner rush, and it's safe to say that they've gone downhill.
First of all there is a three drink limit per customer. This would normally be fine however there was barely any alcohol in our drinks. Our server was nice but we definitely felt rushed. Our pupu platter came out as quickly as we ordered it and everything was cold. Why? If I'm paying $46 for a pupu platter, I expect some effort put into the quality and to be served food that's at a safe temperature to consume. The crab rangoons and spareribs probably would have been good if they were hot. The egg roll was just BAD. Thankfully the lo-mein and general Gau's came out hot, but the chicken tasted reheated and just disappointing.
At least their chicken fingers are still good (even cold) but that's not enough to make me come back. I think this was my final visit to Kowloon's and that saddens me.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 0Aug 22, 2013Previous reviewI just went here with my friend for the first time in like five years. We were seated immediately which I thought was nice because the place seemed pretty crowded(even for 11 p.m on a Wednesday night...)
The menu was weird. I was hoping to get a combo plate with chicken fingers, boneless ribs, & pork fried rice but apparently they don't do that? I asked the less-than amused waiter about it and he said I could order the chicken fingers and add rice onto it... that would have been $14 which is a little ridiculous. So we ordered one of the appetizers that came with a little of everything. The food was REALLY good though! The chicken fingers here are greasy, but they don't have all of that nasty batter in them either! I thought the chicken wings were really good too. They were loaded with chicken which is something that you rarely get with wings.
Bottom line being I think the menu stinks because you end up paying a lot of money just to get little portions of the threee things that you want. The service is fast & the food is good. - Maria M.Lynn, MA020Dec 21, 2024
The older woman that works the weekends with red hair is extremely rude every time I come in. In fact, she offended my elderly parents so horribly tonight that I refuse to eat here again. I think her name is Debbie or Donna. Older white Lady with the red hair that is always by the podium when you're waiting to be seated. Horrible customer service from her every time without fail! We go so excited and somehow she keeps managing to ruin our appetite!

Cool Interior (but very dark)
Nice waiter
Hot garbage food:
- chicken fingers is mostly batter, where is the chicken?
- Inconsistent rice (some was crunch, some was sauce)
- ribs had no flavor
- My husband declared he never had an eggroll that tasted so terrible
- hair in my daughters sweet & sour sauce
I can't believe I wanted to go here for so long and it was an utter disappointment. I feel like John Cena let me down... (and what was up with the police window glass lady room stall doors?!)Helpful 1Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - May 14, 2023
This place is a nostalgic staple on the north shore and we always make a habit of stopping by when heading to see family.
The ambiance is what makes this place so unique and special - you're so excited to see what room you'll be seated in.
Service is efficient and the food comes out quick. No meal would be complete without the duck sauce and spicy mustard cups. The crab rangoons are our favorite app and the beef teriyaki is delicious, but if you have a big group, the flaming pu pu platter is a must. This trip, we went with the lemon chicken, which had great flavor, but you can't go wrong with anything on the menu. Beware: a side of white rice is $5.50.
The news of knocking down the current landmark building and downsizing to a smaller, newer building in conjunction with retail/apartments is so sad for the generations of families who have celebrated here.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 3Oh no 2 - David B.Epsom, NH45324Oct 13, 2024
I was given a surprise birthday party there, yesterday. The place is huge and something to see. We had a group of 17 people, ordered a variety of dishes along with the peninsula poo poo platters. There was not one dissatisfied person in the group. The food was quite good and our waiter was excellent. My girlfriend is picky about Chinese food and was loving the place. Will definitely return.

My favorite Chinese restaurant on the planet. Every time I come here I always get amazing service and the food is always a 10!

What happened to this place? The Low grade dog crap being served is mind boggling. Three day old egg foo young, cold pork strips, boneless spare ribs full of grizzle and fat. I'm done with it. Once a mainstay now a place to avoid!
Our waitress was very nice thus one star.Helpful 0Thanks 0Love this 0Oh no 1 - Kiera M.Burlington, MA1190Oct 6, 2024
The Kowloon is a staple of Massachusetts and one of the signature spots you point out when driving on Route One. It has your typical Chinese food and always tastes good. I went a month ago and our service was really nice and always kept checking on us. Each room has a different fun theme, I mostly know about the boat/sea theme. But if you want a regular room that option is available!
