VPS
An isolated, virtual environment on a physical server.
A virtual private server (VPS) is a virtual machine that is sold as a service by an Internet hosting service. A VPS runs its own copy of an operating system, and customers have superuser-level access to that operating system instance, so they can install almost any software that runs on that OS.
A VPS is similar to a dedicated server, in that it is a standalone computer that is dedicated to a single user. However, unlike a dedicated server, a VPS is a virtual machine that is created using software and is run on top of a physical server. This allows hosting companies to offer VPS services at a lower cost than dedicated servers, while still providing users with the benefits of a dedicated server.
