Do I need to buy a commercial-use license?

Commercial use means using Yaak for revenue-generating or work-related activities. You can Download and use Yaak for free, for personal use.

What is a lifetime fallback license?

After cancellation, you will receive no future updates or support, but you can continue using your current version of Yaak for commercial use.

Should I buy Individual or Business?

If you’re purchasing a license with your own funds (even for work), buy Individual.

Individual licenses are assigned to a single person and email address, and cannot be transferred to another person. Business licenses are assigned to a company and can be transferred to another person within the company at any time.

Is there a trial period?

Yes, you can evaluate Yaak for commercial use for 30 days. The trial starts the first time you launch the app, and no credit card or signup is required.

Do you support Purchasing Power Parity?

Yes! If you reside in a country with significantly lower purchasing power (eg. India, Brazil, Pakistan, Ethiopia), you will be given the option to purchase at a discount. If you are eligible, a banner will display on this page with a unique coupon code.

Can I get a refund?

Refunds can be requested within 30 days of your initial payment.

Can I use Yaak on multiple devices?

Yes. Each license can be used on up to 3 devices by the same individual. Sharing licenses with others is strictly prohibited. If you reach the limit, you can revoke license activations from your Yaak account dashboard

How can I access my existing licenses?

Licenses are tied to your Yaak account. Access your licenses by logging in

Is Yaak HIPAA compliant?

Yaak is a local-first desktop app and does not store, sync, or transmit your data. Everything stays on your device unless you choose to export or share it.

Because Yaak does not process or handle PHI on behalf of users, it does not meet the definition of a Business Associate under HIPAA, and we therefore do not sign BAAs.

Can I pay monthly?

No, licenses are billed annually. This keeps pricing simple and helps support long-term development.

Do non-profits need a license?

Yes, a commercial-use license is required for non-profit organizations. Contact sales@yaak.app to learn about available discounts.

What about open source?

Yaak is open source under the MIT license. You can view, modify, and run the source code for both personal and commercial use. Licensing applies only to the prebuilt binaries.

Not ready to buy?

You can download Yaak and use it freely for personal projects. Buy a license when you start using it at work.
