부케예 척
Buckeye Chuck오하이오의 공식적인 기상예측 마못인 Buckye Chuck은 오하이오주 Marion에 살고 있다.[1] 그는 그라운드호그 데이(2월 2일)에 봄이 올 것으로 예측한 것으로 알려진 오하이오주의 두 호각류 중 한 명이다. 오하이오 주 출신인 척은 1970년대에 봄이 올 것이라고 예측하기 시작했다.[2] 게다가, 오하이오 총회는 1979년 부케예 척을 주립 그라운드호그로 공식 선언했다.[3] 그러나 2006년부터 2015년까지 척 감독의 전망은 딱 두 번 정확했다.[4]
그라운드호그데이의 전설에 따르면, 그라운드호그 데이의 행동은 날씨를 예측하는 한 방법이다. 만약 마못이 굴에서 튀어나와 그의 그림자를 본 다음 다시 사라진다면, 그것은 겨울이 6주 더 지속된다는 것을 의미할 것이다. 그러나 만약 마못이 자신의 그림자를 보지 못한다면, 굴에서 나오는 것이 두렵지 않을 것이고 겨울은 곧 끝날 것이다.
