Gbiti

기비티는 카메룬의 동쪽 지방에 있는 국경 도시다.

국경초소

2013년 11월 16일 '중앙아프리카공화국(CAR)'에서 온 미확인 무장괴한들이 깃티에서 카메룬 국경 초소를 공격했다."이 공격으로 일곱 명이 죽었다."[1]

2013년 킴벌리프로세스 상설 사무국은 시내에서 카메룬 갱단이나 중앙아프리카 공화국의 정치 폭력에 자금을 대는 데 사용될 수 있는 혈액 다이아몬드 거래 중단의 중요성에 대한 인식 캠페인을 실시했다.

난민환승센터

그 마을은 중앙아프리카 공화국을 탈출한 난민들로 인해 영향을 받았다.[2][3][4][5][6]

2014년 5월 26일 현재 2만1451명의 난민들이 카메룬으로 건너가 깃티 환승센터에 접수됐다.[7]

난민들은 깃티 환승센터에 모여 '버스로 4시간 거리'에 위치한 음빌레 난민촌 등 다른 곳으로 이송된다.[8]

2014년 4월 한 구호요원이 휴대전화로 촬영한 유튜브 영상에는 지치고 영양실조에 걸린 일행이 깃티로 들어가기 위해 강을 천천히 건너는 모습이 기록돼 있다.[9]많은 난민들이 CAR 안티발라카 반군의 공격으로 심각한 부상을 입었다.[10]심각한 마체 부상을 입고 도착한 7세 소년 1명은 자동차로 3시간 거리에 있는 베르투아에 위치한 가장 가까운 병원에서 치료를 받아 구조되었다.[11]
