로리 오크스(Laurie Oakes, 1943년 8월 14일 뉴사우스웨일스 주 뉴캐슬에서 출생)는 은퇴한 오스트레일리아 언론인이다. 1969년부터 2017년까지 캔버라 프레스 갤러리에서 일하면서 호주 의회와 인쇄, 라디오, 텔레비전을 위한 연방 선거를 취재했다.

초기 경력

오이스는 뉴사우스웨일스의 뉴캐슬에서 웨스와 헤이즐 오이스의 아들로 태어났다. 그의 아버지는 회계사로 BHP에서 일했다. 오케스가 여섯 살 때, 그의 아버지는 서부 오스트레일리아 더비 해안에서 떨어진 작은 섬인 코카투 섬으로 옮겨졌는데, 그곳에는 철광석 광산이 있었다. 그는 겨우 20~30명의 아이들과 함께 1인 학교에서 학교를 다니기 시작했다.[1] Oakes는 후에 뉴사우스웨일즈로 다시 옮겨가 리츠고 고등학교에 다녔다.[2][3] 1964년 시드니대학을 졸업하고 시드니데일리 미러에서 아르바이트를 했다.
