The suspected bogus nurse did attend nursing school, but dropped out after gaining a few credits.
Private healthcare provider Med Group notified the National Supervisory Authority for Welfare and Health (Valvira) after it became suspicious that the nurse’s diploma was forged. The nurse never applied for medical licensing from Valvira—something Med Group said it failed to check in the hiring process.
According to Med Group, the nurse did not endanger patient safety on the job.
The nurse, born in the 1980s, is no longer working for the company, which has asked the police to launch an investigation into the matter.
This is the fourth known case of an unqualified person working as a medical professional in Finland since last year.
