Beckham, previously known as “Posh” Spice left the Turku airport in a motorcade led by a police car. She was escorted directly to the private hospital in Turku where her husband was recovering from surgery on his left Achilles tendon. The former Spice Girl’s arrival was a low-key affair, followed by a handful of die-hard fans and media representatives.
Surgery to repair David Beckham’s ruptured left Achilles tendon was successful, says Professor Sakari Orava, the Orthopaedic Surgeon who carried out the operation on Sunday.
Orava said the patient was “satisfied, calm and out of pain” following the operation. Beckham will remain at the Turku hospital until Wednesday before flying to his home in Los Angeles via London. The midfielder was expected to be joined by his wife on Monday.
On a professional level, Sunday’s surgery means Beckman is definitely out of next summer's World Cup.
The football star's leg will be in a cast for two months, after which he can gradually start rehabilitation.
The former England Captain would have been the only British soccer player to represent his country four times running in the World Cup.
