Ollila earned 6.1 million euros in taxable income last year. Nokia's former head Olli-Pekka Kallasvuo came in second with 4.8 million euros, while Mikael Lilius, the former chief of the majority state-owned power company Fortum, earned 2.7 million euros.
Other top breadwinners included Matti Alahuhta, the CEO of lift and escalator manufacturer Kone, and former Nokia board member Simon Bresford-Wylie, both scooping up some two million euros.
In terms of capital gains, Aatos Erkko, principal owner of the SanomaWSOY media empire, dominated the list, with capital earnings of 16.5 million euros. Other top earners included Karl Heikki Kyöstilä, founder of the dental equipment company Planmeca.
The 20-year-old siblings My and Max Widenius from Helsinki also raked in significant capital income in 2009. Their father created the MySQL database, named after My, which was later sold to Sun.
In line with Nordic traditions of transparency, all tax return data is public information in Finland.
