Triple Murderer Recaptured

Triple murderer Nikita Joakim Fouganthine, formerly known as Juha Valjakkala, has been recaptured after absconding from his period of controlled probation.

Police confirmed on Sunday evening that he had been recaptured in the Inari-Utsjoki area of northern Finnish Lapland.

A check on his whereabouts on Saturday showed he was not in his apartment at an undisclosed location in Finland. A phone used to check on his whereabouts was also discovered by prison officials in the apartment.

He was released on controlled probation at the end of February. This was due to end in July after which he would have been conditionally freed.

He received a life sentence in Sweden for a triple homicide committed in 1988. He served twenty years of the sentence.
