Russia Sends Finnish Diplomat Back to Finland

Russia has sent home a Finnish diplomat working in Moscow. Kalevi Kyyrönen was asked to leave Russia in response to Finland's recent decision to send home a Russian diplomat.

In July, the Lappeenranta District Court fined a Finnish criminal investigator for taking bribes. The Russian diplomat was sent home for his involvement in the case. Russia responded by sending Kyyrönen back to Finland.

Finnish officials say that Kyyrönen has not committed a crime.

Russian officials gave Kyyrönen two weeks to leave the country. He has returned to Finland and continues to work for the foreign service.
