Equipment problems manifested in Pendolino trains, and the Seinäjoki-Helsinki train at 15:45 was cancelled between Tampere and Helsinki.
The Finnish State Railways (VR) was still carrying out repairs on the line between Seinäjoki and Parkano in the evening. Earlier on Tuesday morning, a fire broke out there on a truck carried by a freight train. The fire damaged rail equipment and caused delays up to seven hours for northbound night trains.
Four night trains ran late by several hours, and the 5:55 Pendolino train from Seinäjoki to Helsinki was cancelled. VR said it would offer ticket refunds to the passengers of the four delayed trains.
There were also rail disruptions in Helsinki this morning, as one person was hit by a train in Pasila.
