The late arrival of spring weather has extended the season for snow tyre use for many drivers. Studded tyres can continue to be used, if road conditions so require.
There are no restrictions on non-studded snow tyres, but the Association of Tyre Specialists of Finland, the interest organization for tyre companies and retreaders, does not recommend their year-round use.
The association is also reminding car owners to check the condition of their summer tyres. By law, summer tyres must have a minimum of 1.6mm of tread. For driving in rainy weather, however, the safety recommendation is for no less than 4mm.
