According to the state lottery company Veikkaus, the 29.5 million euro main jackpot went to a player in Seinäjoki in southern Ostrobothnia following the Friday night draw.
The punter had played his or her numbers on the Veikkaus website and will receive the massive winnings three weeks from Monday.
The Seinäjoki winner is the first ever to come from Finland in the European-wide lottery, and is so far the biggest winner in any kind of gambling game in Finland.
The purse is also the largest ever win in the history of the Eurojackpot lottery. The previous record-setting win went to a German player last year, who netted 27.5 million euros. Another large jackpot previously went to Denmark where one punter came away with 21.3 million euros.
The Eurojackpot lottery is drawn every Friday evening at Yle’s television studios in Helsinki. Other countries participating in the draw include Spain, the Netherlands, Iceland, Italy, Croatia, Latvia, Lithuania, Norway, Sweden, Germany, Slovenia, Denmark and Estonia.
