The research and development facility is the first to be established by the electronics company in the Nordics. The details of the installation’s operations were disclosed Thursday.

Samsung has followed in the footsteps of other technology companies such as Huawei and Intel in setting up shop in Finland. The company is aiming to attract former Nokia engineers and software developers to strengthen its Finland facility.

Samsung has surged past its competitors in recent years to become the world’s largest mobile phone maker by market share. The company is particularly strong in the smartphone sector, where it delivered more units than the other four largest phone makers combined.
