Neziri breaks Finnish hurdles record in Moscow

Runner Nooralotta Neziri shattered her own Finnish record in the women’s 100m hurdles at the Athletics World Championships on Saturday evening.

Runner Nooralotta Neziri placed sixth in her heat with a time of 13.04. That was 6-hundredths of a second faster than her own record in the sport. Before the race, she had told Yle she hoped to break the 13-second mark.

“It was a great experience,” Neziri told Yle immediately after the race. “I was a bit nervous at the start, even though I tried not to think about it. Now I can say that I’m satisfied with this trip” to Moscow, she added.

Neziri, a 20-year-old from the west-coast town of Pori, is of Finnish and Macedonian-Albanian descent.

Brianna Rollins of the USA went on to win the gold in the event.
