Finnish Diets Healthier - But Room For Improvement

The Finns in general have improved the healthy elements of their basic diets. Adults are consuming more beneficial fatty acids and salt intake has fallen.

The National Public Health Institute's Finravinto (Finn nourishment) 2007 study shows, however, that there is still room for dietary improvements.

In general, people in Finland have too few beneficial fatty acids in their diets, and adults are in need of more vitamin D and fibre.

The National Public Health Institute recommends that adults eat more whole grain products and more fish. In addition, eating more vegetables, fruits and berries would correct deficiencies found in the latest study.
