If it is part of the next government, the SDP plans to cut taxes for low and middle income earners, according to the party’s manifesto published on Sunday.
Party chair Antti Rinne says that the Finnish economy will not grow unless domestic demand gets a boost—and he hopes a tax cut will put more spending money in people’s pockets.
The centre-left party admits in its programme that the next government will not have room to implement large-scale economic stimulus measures until the economy improves. Rinne said at a party meeting in Kotka that to start the ‘wheels turning’ he wanted to put money back in the pockets of those who are most likely to spend it.
