According to Jyväskylä-based company Paytrail, for almost the whole day, e-commerce payment services were obstructed due to the failure at the Cygate centre.
The company apologised for any inconvenience caused by the technical problem, as originally, the update was supposed to cause only a few minutes’ break in service.
Paytrail has started searching for a new service provider. It plans to distribute services across two different operators so that if one partner experiences problems, the entire service need not cease operation.
Paytrail is responsible for around 4,000 Finnish online payment systems. On Sunday, only about a third of all online payments were successful.
