According to the Finnish Meteorological Institute (FMI) Twitter account, the record-breaking spring temp was recorded as +9.1 degrees Celsius. Yle meteorologist Kerttu Kotakorpi says a temperature like this so early in the spring is very rare in Finland.
But it looks as though spring is really getting a hold over winter this weekend, as sunny skies prevail in the south and central areas of the country and temps could reach +7 in the south, although Kotakorpi says the cold westerly winds will make the weather feel a bit chillier.
“Winds may reach gale force in the fells of Lapland and at sea. We have already measured 17 m/s winds in Rauma and 22 m/s winds in Levi,” says Kotakorpi.
