Oulu karting enthusiasts suffer carbon monoxide poisoning

Around a dozen people were admitted to hospital on Friday after suffering carbon monoxide poisoning at a karting track in the northern city of Oulu. Competitors or spectators suffering symptoms are advised to seek medical assistance.

Several people present at a 300-lap karting race in Oulu have been treated for carbon monoxide poisoning. The emergency services say the cause is likely to be insufficient ventilation at the indoor venue.

Early on Saturday morning the health authorities issued a warning asking competitors or spectators to contact doctors if they suffer headaches, vomiting, nausea or drowsiness. The number to call in the Oulu area is (08) 315 2655.
