The Finnish men's ice hockey team again beat Russia on Saturday in this season's final European Hockey Tour (EHT) match in Moscow.
Detroit Red Wings left winger Teemu Pulkkinen scored the winning goal as the Finnish Lions edged past the host Russian team, 3-2 on Saturday evening. The 24-year-old Pulkkinen also scored in Finland's first EHT victory over the Russians on Thursday, 3-1.
Wild week on ice
Saturday's game was the last chance for Finnish players to show their stuff before the starting line-up for the World Championships is finalised.
Head coach Kari Jalonen says the players will be informed overnight as to who'll be named to the team for the IIHF World Championships. They will be contested in Moscow and St Petersburg from Friday 6 May through Sunday 22 May.
The two EHT wins capped off a hockey week that began with the Finnish boys winning the U18 World Championship in the US early Monday morning, with a 6-1 romp over Sweden. It continued with Tampere team Tappara winning the Finnish Liiga title over HIFK on Tuesday.
