Novyi lef (New left) was the second journal of the Left Front of the Arts, an association of artists, designers, writers, and other creative workers born out of the Russian Revolution. The journal was published monthly in 1927 and 1928 by Gosizdat, the Soviet state publishing house. Rodchenko decided to become involved in photography himself in 1924 and he purchased a camera in Paris 1925, then pioneered a new vision in graphic design. I have been lost in reading about the life of Rodchenko (once again) and I am amazed (once again) at the problems he, his wife and his associates faced, especially in the later years of their careers and lives.
