So I made 3 different designs based on the original lowell sphere. The first one looks no different from a regular 4x4 lowell sphere but instead of 24 1x2 jumper plates it uses only 12 2x2 jumper plates. It also doesn't require 24 corner plates which are pretty scarce in my collection. The second one is an adorable 3x3 lowell sphere. That one would actually be very easy to make with the new 3x3 "Flickr: Explore!" But I don't have any of those. So the inside structure is very important. It's…

Other than a grainy, poorly lit photo. :) The upside is that the rings are flush with one another at the intersection points, thanks to the plate hinges attached below the bricks. The downside is that the points where the rings meet has no attachment point, as they're joint spots. If that makes sense. Could be useful if someone far smarter than I were to apply it somehow.
