Lord of the Flies - William Golding
Lord of the Flies - William Golding. My favorite book as a teenager. Dystopic view humanity as told through a chilling tale of school boys turning on each other when stranded on a desert island. A decent first novel for Golding, winning him a Nobel prize and a perennial place on secondary school curricula. Purporting a Nietzschean assessment of human interaction, these choirboys literally become feral when freed of from the moderating forces of civilisation. Freud would have also approved.

Book Review: Lord Of The Flies by William Golding (Classic Books, Banned Books, Prize Winning Books)
Lord Of The Flies was William Golding’s first novel, published in 1954. It wasn’t an immediate success. It sold fewer than three thousand copies in the first year, and promptly went out of print entirely. Golding eventually found his audience and went on to have a glowing literary career, winning the Nobel Prize For Literature in 1983. He was also knighted, in 1988.
