Bandhani (Bandhej) is an ancient textile art practice of Rajasthan. The name Bandhani is derived from word Bandhan that means tying up. The technique involves dyeing a fabric which is tied very tightly at different points in knots. It comes in a variety of pattern, design & color. In Rajasthan and Gujrat, Bandhani is the foremost art and it represents good fortune. It is part of not only women’s fashion but men also can be found wearing turbans with Bandhej motifs.

An age-old craft of Rajasthan - this has redefined the textile industry. Did you know that it can take five carvers up to three days to create a pattern in a printing block. And the printers may use as many as thirty blocks to complete one design! Amazing right?
