Sept. 30 is Orange Shirt Day. It's also known as the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day in honour of the Indigenous children who were sent away to residential schools in Canada. Phyllis Webstad, the creator of Orange Shirt Day, curated this list of titles for youth to read.
In Manitoba, at least 338 children died at the province’s residential schools or within a year of leaving the schools, the Truth and Reconciliation Commission found. But the names of almost half aren't known.

Residential Schools were created for the Native kids on reserves. All Native children were forced to attend this school. The main purpose of it's creation was so that all Native children will be thought about European style and they had to let go of their Native style. Most of the kids were treated badly, they were not fed well.
