Spirit Room is a location in Ocarina of Time.[1]

Features and Overview

The Spirit Room is one of six elemental rooms located within Ganon's Castle. It borrows many elements from the Spirit Temple including the prevalence of Armos statues, the use of Bombchu and the Mirror Shield, and a theme of Light versus Darkness.

The first chamber involves collecting Silver Rupees while avoiding Blade Traps. The path of the Blade Traps is blocked by several inactive Armos statues; moving them allows for easier access to the Rupees. The center of the room contains a rare Big Fairy underneath the Beamos.

The next chamber requires the use of a Bombchu to hit a Switch behind bars that cannot be reached with sword strikes or Arrows. Another Switch summons a Chest containing Bombchus for this purpose. Once the way is opened, Link must use a Fire Arrow to remove some cobwebs that are blocking a skylight, creating a Light Beam. The Mirror Shield is then used to reflect the light onto one of the Sun Patterns to open the way to the Spirit Barrier chamber; however, activating the wrong Sun Pattern will instead summon a Wallmaster.

In Master Quest, the Beamos, Blade Traps, and Armos statues are replaced by Fire Keese and Torch Slugs. Instead of collecting Silver Rupees, the way is opened by hitting a rusted Switch with the Megaton Hammer. However, blocking the switch are multiple stone thrones. By hitting an Eyeball Switch using the Fairy Bow, Link can summon an Iron Knuckle to smash through them. More Iron Knuckles can be dispensed by repeatedly hitting the Eye Switch should Link fail to remove the thrones the first time. The Bombchu and skylight chamber now contains two large Green Bubbles. Also present are a Gibdo and two ReDeads guarding the skylight. Two of the Sun Switches now grant the Golden Gauntlets and a Small Key which can be used in the Light Room. To enter the Spirit Barrier chamber, Link must instead shine light on the Spirit symbol above the door.

Trivia

  • There is a hidden Sun Pattern behind the large Spirit symbol just before the Spirit Barrier chamber in Master Quest, explaining the need to shine light upon it.
