The new LIMINAL center at the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics (CIIRC) of the Czech Technical University (CTU) explores how understanding the past can help us prepare for the future. It investigates what motivates people, how they learn, and how societies cope with change. The center aims to apply these insights to technology design, education, and the development of ways to strengthen societal resilience. It will be introduced to the public on Friday, September 25, 2026, at CIIRC CTU.

For the third year running, our students have the chance to test their knowledge of the EU and European culture in a pub quiz. Prizes include board games and other rewards. The top teams from the university round will advance to the final on November 2, where they will compete against various prominent public figures as well as students from other universities. The quiz for CTU students will take place on October 20, 2026, at 6:00 PM at Klub Betlémská; participation is free.

The international team behind the Visual Object Tracking (VOT) initiative—which includes Prof. Jiří Matas from the Faculty of Electrical Engineering at CTU as a key figure—has been awarded the 2026 PAMI Mark Everingham Prize. This prestigious award, recognizing outstanding contributions to the computer vision community, was presented to the team on September 12 at the ECCV 2026 conference in Malmö, Sweden. The jury commended over a decade of work on workshops and competitions that have fundamentally shaped how visual object tracking methods are developed and evaluated today.

Assoc. Prof. Ondřej Fišer, Ph.D., from the Faculty of Biomedical Engineering at the Czech Technical University in Prague (CTU), participated as an invited speaker at the international NEXT AI 2026 forum in Wonju, South Korea. In his invited talk, he presented the journey from academic research at CTU through the transfer of scientific know-how and the establishment of the technology spin-off Tonagena to the development of a data-driven electroporation platform.
Robotics experiments, space technologies, virtual reality, biomedical demonstrations, modern construction methods, and interactive demonstrations of information handling—these and many other activities have been prepared by the Czech Technical University for participants in this year’s Researchers' Night. Almost all faculties and numerous university departments will actively participate in the program of this popular nationwide event on Friday, September 25, which will focus on the central theme of communication. Admission to the entire event is free.
The Czech Republic and the Republic of Korea have taken another concrete step in their scientific and technical cooperation in advanced robotics and manufacturing with the official opening of the Korea–Czech Advanced Robotics Center (KCARC) at the Czech Institute of Informatics, Robotics and Cybernetics (CIIRC) CTU in Prague on September 21, 2026.
The Competence Center for Resilience (KCO) is being established at the CTU University Centre for Energy Efficient Buildings (CTU UCEEB); it is a new long-term development project focused on the preparedness and resilience of organizations as well as critical and strategic infrastructure. The center connects CTU specialists with experts from other organizations in the Czech Republic and abroad, creating a platform for collaborative research, development, education, and cooperation with industry.
