My Colors

Mosaic Monday! I promised  Maggie the new hostess of Mosaic Monday at Normandy Life  that I would join in one day. Today is that day.  

These are my colors. Love them! Couldn't resist purchasing the bouquet at the farmer's market the other day. Yellows, corals, oranges, russets, cream, and no pink anywhere.

Oops...pink toes don't count.

The yellow miniature rose that John gave me last summer, came back this. I can not tell you how much this pleases me. 

The superbells have not been happy in the heat, but are making a comeback now that the temps have moderated.

Mosaic Monday Offerings

We're having a fun discussion about orange and red around here. 

That's a common ditch lily on the left that I call orange and a Bolero bud on the right. The Bolero may be just another shade of orange, especially if one compares it to red as below.

Boleros beside pansies beside wasp house, plates,  zucchini, and below the U.S. flag. Okay, it may be another shade of red. Whatever!

Another peek at John's project. I'm starting to get excited now that it's on the homestretch. Hope that it may be finished by the 4th of July.
It's a patriotic week in North America with Canada celebrating Canada Day on Wednesday and the United States celebrating the 4th of July on Saturday. Enjoy the celebrations!

I am going to stop being such a snob about iPhone photos. Rainbows are not often seen in my *holler and I am not often out in rainbow weather so even if I do see one, the Nikon has failed to capture it. On Paint Nite, my daughter was driving in Rainbow Weather leaving my hands free to take some photos. Glory be! The iPhone camera captured that rainbow with ease.

I am late today and staggering around a bit having spent the night in the ER with my daughter once again. She loves blueberries, strawberries, raspberries and all manner of fruits and veggies. Sadly, the "berries" do not love her and her system is prone to develop kidney stones if she indulges. Funny thing, she had not remembered a lick of this until she checked her food guidelines. She has happily been indulging to the tune of 4 cups of berries a week for most of July and August. Yikes! I don't think that she'll forget this time. I am pretty sure that she has learned her lesson, yet again, the hard way. Doesn't it seem unfair that such good-for-you things cause her such troubles?

Since I was sleeping until 1 pm today, I missed out on my usual Sunday posting and am surprising Judith with another appearance at Mosaic Monday. Judith is featuring hydrangeas this week — so lovely!

Golden Orbs

This makes my 109th Mosaic Monday post. Was a time when I participated every week and then the party grew so popular that I couldn't keep up so stepped back from it, just tipping my toes in every few months or so. I really want to thank Mary of Little Red House for lovingly hosting her creation for so long and I also want to thank her for passing the torch. Judith at Lavender Cottage is our new hostess and I look forward to participating every so often. Had to be here today on Judith's inaugural run and to congratulate her on this new journey.

That quote is much kinder than my mother's comment some years ago now, which was this: How you make this little dump (that's really the only exact word that I remember her saying ☺) look like something is quite entertaining. (Or words to that effect.) It was a source of fun for her to see the photos come up on my blog knowing the reality. I know the reality so very well, of course, but I decorate to make my life more enjoyable.
For me, home has become much more than decorations, though. Without faith, it would be merely a place to hang my hat/apron/sweater/keys... Without John, I shudder to think. Without kind neighbors who snowblow the drive, it would not be nearly so pleasant. There are so many factors that create home and community. What are some for you?

Ice~Mosaic Monday

Way back in Art Appreciation 101, I learned how the eye is always drawn to red. Yesterday, I decided to take pictures of the ice storm we were having. Apple Orchard Afternoon

Such a pretty apple orchard afternoon it was. The quote is included because a dear friend stopped me after church to say "thank you" for a plaque that I once gave her with this on it. She is a school teacher who has been feeling a bit discouraged wondering if her years of teaching have made any difference. She says that when she sees that quote, she is encouraged. I don't recall giving her this gift. However, I am thankful that God can use such seemingly little things. I'm thinking that they are the big things after all.

This is a maybe Mosaic Monday. I'm not quite sure if Mary is back yet. If so, I'll be linking up. If not, I'll catch her another Sunday.

Ahhhh, Luther...haven't thought of him in years, but remember reading his biography long ago. He must have been very happy indeed to work with flowers all of his life. He once crawled on hands and knees through his greenhouse sniffing each flower for the exact one that was giving off a sweet perfume. He found it!

When it became apparent that we would not make it until the end of the month without another grocery run, we decided to take the scenic route.

1. Spider Lily just bloomed today!

3. Larger Barn...have always loved the red. There's a lake back there barely visible, too.

1. Another red barn barely visible through the fields...must get closer to this one someday!
2. Love this barn, though it doesn't show up well through the trees. It is not far from my home and, as a child, I spent many happy hours on this farm.

I've been chomping at the bit to get out there and take photos. It's been a thunderstormy afternoon, which makes for dramatic lighting (no, I did not mean to say lightening ☺ lightning [Thanks, BJ, for keeping me straight!☺☺])

This reminds me of my grandson's being at a pool party last week with his classmates. His mother was also there. When a thunderstorm brewed up, he strongly suggested to his mom that it was time to leave. She said, "Go get your shoes." He said, "No time for that!"

He would not have liked seeing me out there with the camera for sure. But what I won't do for the cause when I'm feeling chatty.

Around the Yard~Mosaic Monday

This season of the year, just after the snow has melted and before the leaves come out or the flowers bloom, can seem very dull unless one takes a closer look.

Grape hyacinths provide a bright bit of color; rocks, leaves and pinecones provide some texture; a chunk of bark for another sort of interest; the promise of azalea blossoms; a new wreath from the Christmas Tree Shoppe. I'll be ready for Memorial Day, the 4th of July, and straight on to Christmas. ☺
