D’Angelo was and is my favorite musician of all time. I took the photos used for this cover, in 2015 when I was 17. He performed in our hometown of southeast Virginia. It was the best concert of my life. He even dapped me up.

This is the saddest loss in a long time for my journey as an artist and person, but I am inspired to continue with boldness like he did. D, I pray your spirit is in a place much much better than here, & I want you to know your teachings reached me in the deepest way. Rest in Love, Peace & Funk 🙏🏽🕊️
