It's my part time job!

In today's Money Monday vlog I'm talking about how my YT channel will progress in 2025.  I'm going to treat it like my part time job and I'll pay myself from the ad revenue.  I'll continue to donate to small local charities and sadly, I have to pay tax on it as well!

I hope I've explained it clearly enough (there's bound to be someone who jumps on any mistake I've made 🙄) but this is my plan.  Each month I'll put 20% in an account to pay the tax man.  I'll donate 30% to charities.  And pay myself 50% which will go into my emergency/savings fund.  I'll continue to live on my £772 a month pension.

So for every £100 I earn, £20 goes to tax, £30 goes to donations and £50 goes into my savings.

I'm aiming to continue the 2 vlogs per week plus a few extra to show some of the money saving projects I'm working on 😊

Car insurance and ad revenue

In today's Money Monday vlog I'm talking about my car insurance renewal.  Payment of £569.80 was due soon so I did a comparison quote on Compare the Market and found a 'like for like' policy for £300 cheaper!!!  My insurance company basically said they couldn't match that so I'm parting company with them 😁

I'd already set aside £500 for it's renewal so I'm over the moon to be saving so much!

I got my October payment for the ad revenue.  It was an incredible £772.22!!!  I've donated £571.56 of it to Babes in the Wood.  Last month I donated September's payment of £428.44 to them so that makes an amazing total of £1,000 for the 2 months.  The remaining £150.56 has been donated to Start Up Stirling which is my local food bank run by volunteers.

Babes in the Wood and Start Up Stirling are 2 small local charities/social enterprise, boots on the ground type of action.  No CEO salaries so I know all that money is going directly to children and families who need it.

Thank you everyone who watches the ads!! 💗

Poor Luna

Poor Luna really hasn't been very well.  A vet visit confirmed she has an upper respiratory infection which basically means she's producing a lot of green snot 🤮 As I'd used up my free appts under my current pet plan, I had to pay the £48 consultation fee plus £113 for antibiotics and the bronchial mucolytic treatment.  My new plan starts on 11th November so the timing is just unlucky.  She's slowly improving so fingers crossed the meds work.

It does mean that I'm now just over budget (around £30) for the month with 10 days still to go.  I'm hoping to go no spend until the 1st of November now!  Good job I was under budget last month!

In today's video I talk about the project where I'll be donating my first lot of ad revenue.  As a retired teacher who taught in a challenging area I'll always try to support children and families who might be having a tough time.  Here's the link if you're interested in what they do https://babesinthewood.org/

This is how they describe themselves:

"Babes in the Wood is a not for profit social enterprise which exists to reduce the environmental impact of landfill waste & to reduce the effects of poverty on children from birth to 15 years. We are also working towards the development of our volunteer workforce by offering a comprehensive training package. We are committed to our partnerships with local agencies, by offering free goods to the families that need it most. We operate from 2 locations, one in Bishopbriggs & one in Stirling."
