Buffalo Plaid 16 patch FINISH!! and !!! Finished ( or not) Friday!!!

In October - I went Treasure Quilting.. what a fun place to DIVE into - haha - like treasure divers!!!

And I came up with a cute Buffalo Plaid 16 patch quilt - that is now FINISHED!!!

I really really really like how this one turned out - and of course, may just have to do some more Treasure Quilting!!!! - I just meandered on it - cuz it was fun!! and GUESS WHAT!!

It was gifted at a Baby Cowboy Baby shower already - GO ME!!!

Oh!! Because the colors of the University of Wyoming are Brown and Gold.... so Brown fit the bill, plus they are decorating in Browns and cowboys - so CHECK out that back!!!!

ITS BUCKING BRONCOS!! haha!!!

Now since you all know me, and know how much I love to bind..... you may remember that my kid made me these really cool binding ladders - so I ACTUALLY made the binding before I quilted it.... I am sure that is what brought the polar vortex this way...

But look how nice it keeps the binding, it doesn't flop all over the place - if I have to step away for a moment I am not tripping over any of the binding - LOVE it!!!

I'm told more are bieng made, as we sold out on the last batch!!

And Now it is the part of the show where you BRAG!!!

Treasure Quilting

I think Last months RSC color was Darks - but I was not inspired at the time. Then I had to find ways to entertain myself with my foot elevated. ( just so you know - my apple watch tells me I stand about 13-15 hours a day.. sitting is HARD)

So I dug thru a bin and found some browns,

and then An idea came to me... make some 16 patches... and some crumb blocks

I made them and threw them on the wall - they were a MESS. I had to rearrange to see what I had!

I had the top 12 -  16 patch blocks made, but I started digging in another pile and found the bottom 16 patches. That is when my husband came in, admonished me, and then said - Oh - is that Treasure Quilting?  and it stuck!!!

I kept staring at those 16 patches trying to figure out what to make out of them. The crumb blocks were already going to the *parts department* ( thanks Cathy for that term) but I didn't want them all to go there!

I started playing, and realized I needed a few more 16 patches to actually make this quilt - so I made 2 more!!! and Ta Da!!!  A buffalo plaid 16 patch haha!!!

A month Behind - but!! I am counting it for this years Rainbow Scrap Challenge.

And keeping my fingers crossed I will have it pieced and MAYBE even quilted by the end of the month.

Grey Gingham Quilt and!!! Finished!! ( Or not) Friday!!

Happy First Friday of 2024!!! That seems so weird to say - and it seems so far into the future... but! The Future is here.

I always think that my goal for the New year should be to finish things. So this time I decided it was time to just finish the things sitting around my quilting table.... and as soon as I finished one, I looked at the pile - and decided......

To start something else. I can' even keep a goal for a week !! Oh well - at least I can entertain myself!

My finish for this week is:

My Grey Gingham Quilt!!!

I am so excited about it - because!!! it has already been gifted and loved in its new home!

My Son ( and his Wife) are stationed in the desert - and she has decorated their house in Greys and one color. It is SO pretty!!! Instead of trying to make something that matched the color she chose, I decided to go with the Greys...

They also live outside of Joshua Tree National Park. I LOVE that park!  So I found the retro posters that they have and used it for the backing.

And then, of course!! Had to quilt cactus, Yucca and Coyotes on it.
I was a little worried - her Grandma is a quilter, and you don't want to step on Grandmas toes - but - I got brave and decided.... they know I am a quilter too...

Imagine My Happiness when they loved the quilt - and appropriately ohhed and ahhhed without prompting!!!  Almost enough to put that kid of mine back in the will!!   ( Joking... that's a standing joke my dad used to make when we were bad!)

One down 4million to go!!!

So how did your first week go of 2024? Anything get started, finished, strike a fancy??

if you are new to us... this is where you link up your direct post
and you link back to this page so that we can all get lots of ohhs and ahhs!!

I look forward to seeing what you have been up to!

RSC Neutrals

When I read that the colors for October were light Neutrals I thought I would probably sit it out, but then I was playing in my fabrics ( again) and I found some cool colors, and I thought  hmmmmm

I wonder....

Would these be considered Light neutrals? and then I thought - the Quilt Police don't live here - so Go with it.... and I did and now I have a new Top!!!

And the picture is at night, in the low light, and the rain outside was happening!!!
My husband was at a sales conference, and I don't sleep well when he is not there - so!!! I used the time to my benefit and ta da!!!

Another Buffalo Plaid!!! ( Pattern by Quilters Candy, but quickly becoming at one with my brain)

I think I like it!!!!  and now... it needs to be Quilted!!

Teal Rainbow Scrap challenge Buffalo Plaid quilt

 Heck fire - that's a title right??

The RSC color of September is Aqua - and I have taken creative liberties - I can't get to the Aqua...

But the Teal and the Hawaiian just jumped right out at me - so I attempted another Buffalo Plaid quilt...

I think this is a fun one!!! And of course!! it uses some of my Hawaiian themed stash... you might think I have used it all - but I think my bin would beg to differ... altho!! I am getting down to small pieces!!

I am thinking to quilt it with something beachy... it may be a bit because ( bless you my quilty clients) my Clients have brought me some of THE MOST amazing Quilts to quilt!! I love it - and I am excited to get up each day and dig right in!!!

And then of course - you need to see my baby right?  She is just the best ( and the worst!!) She is so fun - we are now fetching quite impressively - until she decides she is hungry... and then it is a mad dash to the food bin, and she sits patiently until you *get* that she is hungry...

I will be linking up to:

In the meantime check out some of these Clothing patterns that I have found and have listed  - I think they are SO fun!!! and they were my Grandmas... She was THE BEST seamstress . One funny - my uncle told my boys that his mom used to make his boxers... my boys Howled!!!!

Yellow and Blue Buffalo Gingham and!! Finished ( or not) Friday!!!

Happy Friday Morning my awesome friends!!

What has got me happy today?  The Temps are cooling into the 70's, we had a bit of rain, all the hay is gathered out of the fields and in the barn... Its looking good!!!!

I was able to sneak this one onto the long arm this week, and Surprise of all surprises.. I got it bound!! In the same week... and... because I try to tire Puppy Girl out before I quilt... we had quite a fun photo walk!!

I used a vintage looking cowboy print in blue - that is just so cute!! I need to make more quilts out of it!!! and a Stripe and a Yellow - it turned out bright and happy. ( but not exactly what I saw in my mind)

I had a fun scrappy back in my Backings pile that I pulled out - and I thought it just complimented this quilt. Added to the fun and happy whim about it.

Quilted it with an allover design that added texture and whimsy....

And ta da!!!   A finish!!!

I am all excited to see what you have finished ( or not) this week!!

I have been doing a little listing in my Etsy shop .. kind of fun updating that!! and of course hoping someone else likes what you make haha!

Blue Gingham Buffalo Plaid and!!! Finished ( or not!) Friday

I showed you my yellow (ish) Buffalo plaid... and then I got crazy and made one in Blues!!!

This one is a complete finish - as in Quilted Bound and all!!!

I used Navy, Royal Blue and Grey - and its kind of a fun combination!!!
I used the Quilters Candy pattern again - measures 55 x 65 when done!
I think that is a great comfort sized quilt ;-)

The sun and sky weren't cooperating - but this is the back so you can see the quilting - Its kind of a fun wavy one. I think it looks really nice with all the patterns of the fabric!

So show us what you have been up to!!! And then get to crackin' for next week!! Monday is a day off for us, so I am sure we will be cleaning and moving even more things... anyone need a wood desk and credenza?

Yellow Spinning Goose RSC block plus Gingham

Whoosh - Yellow is ( was) the color of the month for our Rainbow Scrap Challenge ... and it almost got the best of me - but I won!!!!

I got my Yellow Spinning Goose block finished - right under the wire!!!

I had a hard time finding fabrics, as my sewing room has sort of been taken over with things I have moved out of my parents house.  We actually are listing the house for sale on Friday and I just piled things... so this was the Yellow I could get to - and!! I really like it!! - A little different vibe than some of my other plaids..

Now I need to get my sort/organize/ and donate mojo back!!!

Oh!! Also - I might have had a *squirrel*

Remember those Gingham/Buffalo plaid quilts that you can make real quick? I used the Pattern from Quilters Candy - it makes a 55 x 65 inch quilt.

I had this brilliant idea of using a Blue, a Yellow and A stripe. When they lay next to each other - I thought - oh those will be cool.... but when I put them together - I am not 100% sure that they worked the way I had planned it - but I like the way they came together haha!

Anyways - It made me happy because it is ONE thing that I could completely finish 😂🤣😂

This Yellow works for August RSC too - in my mind!  ( which proves I haven't lost my mind yet, but I might be close !)

I will be linking up with

Baseball Gingham/Buffalo Plaid Finish and.... Finished ( or not) Friday!!!

Happy Friday!

For some reason this week I am all messed up on what day it is... I blame the snow, the shoveling of the snow, and more snow haha!!!

I have a Start to Finish!!

Remember those Buffalo plaid/Gingham Quilts that are so cute? Well I saw the Video from The Fat Quarter shot and it said you could make the whole top, cut to finish in 3 hours... and guess what?

They were RIGHT!!!

I made mine a bit bigger tho.... and Ta Da!!!

I think I better go take photos in the Sunshine when it appears... the Snow seems to change the color a bit....

I used a Blue, Red, and Two cream prints for the front

You wanted to see our snow right? Its no where near as bad as others, but! It was heavy snow and I was happy about that  ( moisture to the pasture!!)

Here is the Back... A little leftover from the front and some more fun Baseball Fabric

Remember that Pile Project I told you I had to work on?   All these Baseball Fabrics were piled too - haha!!

Apparently I am a good pile maker!

And I had fun Quilting it too - I knew that it was a busy quilt, so it mostly needed a fun pattern.

There you go - A baseball quilt... Ready for Baseball Season

(It will be for sale in my Etsy Store : Quiltygirl Etsy Store  )

Oh- the sun started to shine  - heres a better color photo:

and now!!! It is your turn!!!

You have ONE LAST FRIDAY to brag about a 2022 finish!!!
