SATURDAY MORNING AT THE BIRD FEEDER - ALL ABOUT MIGRATING

The Dark-eyed Junco has returned.

The little House Finch had a few words.

The Chipmunk wasn't feeling it somehow, but one of the Froggies 3 was being kind. The other two were still confused.

The male House Finch decided to join in as a show of support.

And that's how it goes on a Saturday Morning at the Bird Feeder.

Thanks for flying in and listening to this week's groaners.

Have a great weekend!

For our international friends to translate.

1st Photo:

"Hello, I'm back. It took me ages to fly here. Would anyone like to hear my great joke?

"No? Did you get it. Would anyone like to hear 'migrate' joke?"

3rd Photo:

"There's no talon what I can do. I can keep this up all day."

"I like them."

"???"

5th Photo:

"Egrets...he has a few..."

"but I flew in my way."

BIRD CHATTER POST AND A VERY HAPPY FIRST DAY OF NOVEMBER

Inside voices please!

Maybe, but that's how it goes on a Saturday Morning at the Bird Feeder.

Thanks for looking, and if you had one, I hope your Halloween went well. We had 17 little Trick o'Treaters and the doorbell stopped ringing at about 8.00 p.m.

The numbers are going down, kids are getting older. It seems also that people are holding more Halloween parties these days for their kiddos. But the ones who turned up looked darling dressed in their costumes. Some quite elaborate (one daddy was heard to say, "You've got to take off your proton pack son", whatever that is.

There were princesses in pretty sparkly dresses, and others just wearing a cute Halloween headband (kudos to that mom, or dad). The oldest threesome (girls) were about 12 years' old. All who rang the bell were very polite. Even the three-year-old who turned up at the door with her parents behind her, said thank you when she left and only took one piece of candy. In fact, all of them followed the rules, even when offered more.

We have a load of candy left. Temptation and willpower is being held back for the time being. We will see what tomorrow brings.

Have a great weekend everyone!

In case you saw my Sunday post, I did my usual published too early trick. I yanked it back this time. It will be there again on its proper publishing time, Sunday (though it has probably popped up in the reading list). Sorry about that.

For our international friends to translate:

1st Photo
"Someone is trying to make our space look more pleasing to us birds."
"She gave us extra!"

2nd Photo
"That's very nice but I am only interested in the birdseed."
"And a pumpkin. I don't think it's real though."

3rd Photo
"A bit much?"

SATURDAY MORNING AT THE BIRD FEEDER - THE MOAN OF CROWS

The Mourning Doves were very polite and didn't groan. I am happy they are visiting still.
After being largely absent for many months, this little chipmunk turned up.
There's hope yet, so did the House Finch. Not a very good photo but it will help the old memory box.

That’s all she’s got for this Saturday Morning at the Bird Feeder.

The birds are slowly coming back.

Have a great weekend everyone,
and thanks for visiting

Translation available for our international friends using the translation button on my side bar.

1st photo:

“She needs to pick her leaves out of the water. I’m tired of them.”

2nd Photo:

“Which reminds me. What do trees say every year? I’m ready to turn over a new leaf.”
"And they all fell in the water dish."
“Oh boy!”

SATURDAY MORNING AT THE BIRD FEEDER - THEY ARE WAY TOO EARLY! IT'S NOT EVEN OCTOBER!

The Halloween Crowd decided to drop in for a visit. Everyone tried to tell them it was way too early, but you know how that goes with some ghosties/cats/pumpkins?

The Mrs. has started feeding the birdies but they remain scarce. Even the squirrel stopped by for a few seconds and turned his nose up. Squirrel never turns his nose up at anything. We think the cleaning solution Mr. used, may be putting them off a bit. Hopefully it will rain tonight and that will take care of that.

And as we always like to say here on a Saturday Morning at the Bird Feeder, that's how it goes sometimes, or something like that.

Have a great weekend everyone.

BIRD CHATTER POST - TOO LOUD? - A BIT GOSSIPY THESE BIRDS

That's how it goes on a Saturday Morning at the Bird Bowl, I mean Bird Feeder. A bit of a moan-y one, but I think next week they will get a welcome surprise.

Have a great weekend everyone.

Thanks for flying by.

SATURDAY MORNING AT THE BIRD FEEDER- THE SHEEP WERE BUSY

In the meantime, busy needles were clacking, with sheep knitting sweaters for winter.

And that's how it goes on a Saturday Morning at the Bird Feeder! It isn't just the birds who are welcome here.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great weekend.

For our international friends to translate the above photos.

 Photo 1:

Hello Mr. Goldfinch, so nice to see you. It has been several months since we last saw you.

Thank you, it is good to be back.

Photo 2:

Did you know you have sheep in your garden? They keep saying winter is coming.

Photo 3:

It was cooler today but it is still August. It also rained like the Dickens.

I am so confused.

Photo 4:

Did you know it takes five sheep just to make one sweater?

I didn't even know they could knit!

That's a real groaner!

SATURDAY MORNING AT THE BIRD FEEDER - DID YOU SEE?

And as we all know around here, that's how it goes on a Saturday Morning at the Bird Feeder.

Thanks for not groaning too much, and have a great day!

For our international friends.

1st Photo:

I'm glad you filled the water bowl. I have been very thirsty lately.

2nd Photo:

Where is the camera lady? I want to ask her when she is going to start feeding us again.

She is busy doing things like changing lightbulbs.

3rd Photo:

Which reminds me...

You are not going to tell us one of your changing lightbulb jokes?

4th Photo:

Oh please, nothing as crass as that! Did you see a finch almost fly into a window? He barely finched!

Well, at least it wasn't a lightbulb joke.
