Remarkably bland and uninspired. The two leads are boring, kept hoping the series would focus more on the side characters. I've read one shot doujins with the same premise that managed in just 5-6 pages to have better characterization than this.
Nicole was the only good thing in the show and she even had an interesting story.
Easy women deserve to find love, this life ain't much without close ones. But I just couldn't care less about Runa or her purposefully generic love interest.

The thrilling romance of Shovel Face and Mental Case. I didn't have that much of a problem with the amnesia angle, although it is stupid as hell. What I strongly disliked was the characters. I was actually disappointed they didn't at least
get hurt in that accident.

Shovel Face isn't in love with Kouko in the beginning at all, he just kinda likes her looks. And he waits until she's at her most vulnerable to emotionally blackmail her into dating him. That whole scene almost made me hurl. And the easiness with which he lies to her in the first half of the series was really annoying.
And I'm supposed to root for him to find happiness? Screw that. Kouko has some serious mental issues in the beginning, bordering on pathological. Her behavior gets better and her character development is actually good. The side characters are interesting as well.
Overall, I was disappointed. The first half in particular was a slog to get through. I have to watch Toradora again one of these days to get the bad taste out of my mouth.

I was expecting epic levels of trash, but what I got was just uninteresting meh. The highlights were the Oreimo cameo and the washing machine ED.
As an aside note, I found it kinda insulting how writing novels is presented.

The franchise gets progressively worse after the original series. I only watched a few episodes as a kid so there was no nostalgia when I saw it just recently. Simply put: it's great. The characters are fun and likable, the art style is timeless and the story is never predictable. I was surprised by how fast the fights were. Even the larger ones were done in a few episodes.
That being said, I feel no need to watch DBZ. The show ended properly and every character had his moment(s) to shine. The problem with the franchise is the fact that it must continue no matter what because it's an endless money bag. It's the same problem with One Piece.

This kind of shows are supported by their characters and their interactions. If the characters are this bland and generic it gets boring fast. The whole split personality is just a gimmick and the serious parts are treated especially shallow. The frequent poverty jokes and the guy that talks through his sock puppet were really annoying. That being said, there were a few good episodes here and there.

If you want a similar anime but done infinitely better there's Ai Yori Aoshi, a show with great leads and good side characters. Even Love Hina was more enjoyable even though I hate that kind of slapstick.

Wtf did I just enjoy? This series is a lot better than it has any right to be. If only they had toned down the gigantic bewbs... I hate those with passion.

^ If all they do is reminisce about the past around a fire, it isn't an actual sequel to me. It is however a good way to do a recap, a lot better than just putting together disjointed scenes from the original series like most recap movies.

^ While I do agree it would have been a lot better if it was an actual sequel, this is still one of the better anime recap movies. Didn't feel a waste of time and the 90 minutes just flew by.

The best word to describe this show is soulless. If you've already watched the 200 episodes of the original and the movies and you're still starved for more, then watch the live action. The actors take a bit to get into their characters and the special effects are shit, but it has a lot more heart than this.

If you're in a nitpicking mood, this series will exasperate you. As it did me a couple of years ago when I first watched it.

First off, Chi. What kind of pervert was her father, to put her on/off switch in her pussy? And how does that work out during sex? Does she switch on and off again and again? That kind of thing can cause data corruption for sure. And what's up with her outfits? Her parents dressed her like a fetishistic sex doll. I can see why her sister got confused and wanted her dad to do her.
And then there's Hideki and Chi's relationship. At first Chi can hardly be considered sentient. And even if that is the case she has the mental maturity of a baby. Hideki starts teaching her about the world, basically becoming her parent. And that's my problem.
About the world... Where is the media outcry and prejudice against those in a relationship with persocoms? If persocoms are so damn expensive why aren't they stolen off the street? And it's kind of weird they can own property without being sentient.

On my second viewing just recently, I liked it a lot more. If you're relaxed and don't overthink things, then it's a solid romance series with an overly cute android. And that opening kicks ass.

Kaoru bumps up this show by 2 points. Basically the same as first season.

So a kiss will suffice to transfer mana. That means Saber was duped into getting railed in the woods by big ass pervert Rin. Come to think of it, it was Rin's idea in UBW as well. Might have been in Heaven's Feel as well, I can't remember very well. I think it was Rin who told Shirou how to calm Sakura.

Edit: Anyway, I'm glad the best loli yuri mahou shoujo porn is back.

^ Yes, there are plenty of similarities between the two shows. What I meant was that it's wrong to dismiss it entirely as an Evangelion clone.

And apparently my spell checker doesn't catch miopic.

You need at least a bit of objectivity in rating a show. You can't just rate 1 if you hate it and 10 if you love it. Can you honestly say that Death Note is one of the worst shows out there, that 90% of all anime are better than it? Anyway, bear in mind that votes such as yours are generally ignored by the rating system.

Your review is somewhat useful because you explained what pissed you off about the show.

Calling this show just an Evangelion clone is incredibly miopic. The similarities are only skin deep, much like the Christian "symbolism" in Eva. While I did like NGE, I feel a lot closer to Rahxephon.

ALL the characters in Evangelion were psychiatric cases and the focus of the show was how they dealt with their problems. That's why it ends with Shinji's hallucinations / internal journey of self discovery. Most of the symbolism is tacked on for effect. The story is kept ambiguous and nonsensical because it doesn't matter much. What matters is what we're shown: the effect those events have on the cast.

Rahxephon has more humane, average characters. They may not be as memorable as the eccentric ones from Eva, but their journey was a lot more enjoyable to watch. And that's because they don't fall to extremes as fast. When I watch a show with a lot of mysteries, I expect a reasonable amount of answers by the end of it. Or at least for answers to still be possible. That's why I hated the last seasons of Lost and Code Geass R2. There were no answers in those shows, they were just trying to set new records for the amount of cliffhangers. Anyway, by the end of Rahxephon you have a pretty clear idea of the entire story and the motivations of its characters.

^ Well yeah, in terms of enjoyment, it was a 7 for me.

The first season felt like a mediocre Genshiken and it kinda worked like that for me. Kyuousuke's relationship with his sister was a bit odd, but not that much, considering they were like strangers for a few years. The one thing that grated on my nerves time and time again was how Kyousuke took his corporeal punishment from Kirino without much resistance. That kind of slapstick needs to die in a fire.

Then came season 2. For me, there was a great disconnect between the two seasons. Oreimo 2 is like a mediocre fanfic. Mind you, there are some great Oreimo fanfic, some of them a lot better than the source material. Everything is cranked up to 11. There's more Kuroneko teasing and a ton more cat fights (one of them even overly physical). Almost every girl in the show falls in love with the main character for no reason whatsoever. Kanako only met him once and she's already smitten. Maybe it's so he can reject ALL of them. They even managed to squeeze in a promiscuous American loli. And then, there 's the incest. And you can see it from a mile away. Btw, in the ending when they're talking about another life counseling at home, that's "code" for porking. It was really subtle, wasn't it? And why must Kyousuke yell and be so hysterical when he argues with someone? I kept hoping he would get bitch slapped or punched.

Still, I won't lie. i enjoyed Oreimo 2. It was so bad, I found myself laughing and laughing at their attempts at serious dramatic moments. So, I guess the moral of the story is: if your loli sister masturbates to incest hentai games, guess what she wants?

Always liked your reviews. I kind of gave up on currently airing anime. There are a lot of masterpieces in those 30+ years, so why should I watch series about MMO or about harems? Anyway, I'll be sure to give this a try.

About the same as first season. But that damn opening... It's sooooo bad. The song is just terrible and in combination with the awful cg it made me sick to my stomach.

Damn that poster...

I was sure Nagisa was going to pull through. Even with all the signs, I trusted she was going to be just fine. And then the next episode happened: it was 5 years later and she was long gone.
Edit:
So the ending was a huge magical do-over... So what? I loved every second of it. And it's not like it came out of nowhere. Miracles were already established as real within the world and the main story was bound to have fantasy elements in it. It is an adaptation of a Key visual novel, after all.
