Lusitania, British ocean liner, the sinking of which by a German U-boat on May 7, 1915, contributed indirectly to the entry of the United States into World War I. The sinking led to the deaths of 1,198 people, including 128 U.S. citizens, which led to a wave of indignation in the United States.

Lusitania (1915). El Lusitania, lujoso barco de pasajeros, fue torpedeado el 7 de mayo de 1915 por el submarino alemán U-20 frente a costas irlandesas. Tardó unos 18 minutos en hundirse y de los 1.256 pasajeros que estaban a bordo, sólo sobrevivieron 475, mientras que de sus 693 tripulantes, se salvaron 292 personas.
