Refracted light through a whiskey glass

What started out as an initial attempt at clay throwing, later formed the mould for a glass blowing experiment. By using a clay throwing with residual moisure in the object, steam was then created between the glass and the clay body, resulting in a beautifully organic texture and refraction of light.

Created using high speed photography setup and custom built sliding table rig. Each glass was mounted on a sliding table which collided with one another, causing the splash effect. Used microphone activated quaketronics flash controller. American DJ Snap Shot II strobe behind frosted plexi sheet set up behind glasses. Added a few drops of blue food coloring to the water for a more colorful effect.

am i the only one that everytime they look at this they see the mad hatters hat floating in the steam????
