Snow Showers Coming This Weekend

Above, the GOCO Beast Barn after a 2019 snow. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Yesterday morning, we had a cold rainstorm come through Jamestown and Gallup.

It ended while we were having our Tuesday morning coffee gathering down at Denny's. That allowed me to head into Gallup for some grocery shopping.

Before grocery shopping, I stopped at Tractor Supply to pick up some RV anti-freeze for the pipes and holding tanks. What I found there was the anti-freeze was on sale. The sale was two gallons for $6.00. So I bought two.

It is a good thing that I did so since we have been getting nightly sub-freezing temperatures.

That's not all, we're to get snow showers starting Sunday night and that will continue to Monday night. Just hope the weather is pleasant enough on Tuesday's Election Day.

I'll have to get the snow shovel out of the garage.

Here's the forecast from the National Weather Service:

Sunday
Scattered rain showers before noon, then rain likely, possibly mixed with snow showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 47. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
Sunday Night
Rain and snow showers likely, becoming all snow after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 30. Chance of precipitation is 60%.
Monday
Scattered snow showers before 11am, then scattered rain and snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 43. Chance of precipitation is 50%.
Monday Night
Isolated snow showers. Partly cloudy, with a low around 24. Chance of precipitation is 20%.

New Battery For The Jeep

Above, the ol' girl got a new battery today. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

The Jeep got a new battery today.

The old one outlived its 2-year rating by nearly a year (it was manufactured in February 2021). I got my money's worth out of it.

The price of batteries today are incredible. The replacement cost $179 at Tractor Supply. At least it wasn't into the thousands that repacement batteries for electric vehicles will cost owners.

Once the new battery was installed, I turned the ignition on and the Jeep started right up, just as it should.

Now to deal with the Mustang's starting problems. It started today okay.

A Break From Snows Next Week

Above, snow still on the ground three days ago. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

Yesterday, I had to go into Gallup after our Jamestown group's coffee/breakfast gathering at Denny's at the Flying J. I had to pick up my prescriptions and do some grocery shopping.

After picking up my meds, I stopped at Tractor Supply to get a 16 lb. bag of cat food. D.K. and her kittens have been eating like horses and fast depleting the bag of cat food I already had. For some reason, Tractor Supply had a lot of shoppers and long lines at the cashier. All shopping carts there were in use. There were also a lot of people at the Safeway market a couple of blocks away. It was a good thing I got the cat food at Tractor Supply, Safeway was out of 16 lbs. bags of cat food.

Maybe people were holed up at home during the recent snows and depleted their supplies and it was a nice enough day (it was in the 40s) to go out and shop.

From what the National Weather Service posted (below), it looks like we are getting a week-long break from snowstorms. It will be sunny and in the 40s for the most part this coming week.

Today
Sunny, with a high near 42. Southwest wind 10 to 20 mph.
Tonight
Mostly clear, with a low around 19. Southwest wind around 15 mph.
Monday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 38. Southwest wind 10 to 15 mph.
Monday Night
Partly cloudy, with a low around 19. South wind 5 to 10 mph.
Tuesday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 40. Southwest wind 5 to 10 mph becoming west in the afternoon.
Tuesday Night
Partly cloudy, with a low around 17.
Wednesday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 39.
Wednesday Night
Partly cloudy, with a low around 16.
Thursday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 40.
Thursday Night
Mostly clear, with a low around 16.
Friday
Mostly sunny, with a high near 46.
Friday Night
Partly cloudy, with a low around 22.
Saturday

Perusing the Bad Boy Mower Catalog

Above, the mower after getting it home two years ago. Photo by Armand Vaquer.

A while ago, I was perusing the Bad Boy mower catalog that I downloaded from their website. I was checking out their accessories for my Bad Boy MZ Magnum 54 in. Zero-Turn Mower for the heck of it.

A month or so ago, I found the catalog on the company's website in order to get non-flat front wheels for the mower. I noticed then that they have different accessories for the mowers (depending upon the model) that ranged from ball hitches to shades.

One thing that did catch my eye was that the mowers all seem to have a maximum speed of 6 miles per hour. I don't think I've gotten mine up to that speed.

The mower makes what would be a dedious job (I didn't like yard work during my younger days) into something fun to do. I bought it two years ago this month at Tractor Supply.
