Snow Report
Updated Sunday March 16th
New snow last 24 hours: 3″
New snow since last week: 6″+
Total snow depth: 30+”
It’s a Sunday mini-pow day! We got about another 3″ of new snow last night, plus at least an inch that fell yesterday afternoon. The riding will be great today – embrace that Sunday Funday and come up to ride with us! That’s 9″+ in the last two weeks, and 6″+ this week, which is going to make for some of the best riding so far this season. We know that’s a bit of a low bar, but you gotta embrace the winter we have.
At 8am, temperature at the lodge is 16 degrees, and will probably be pretty consistent throughout the day. Winds are very low (under 5 mph) and skies are cloudy. We expect the weather to stay the same throughout the day.
Chair 2 will be back up and running today – we had to replace some batteries and a battery charger yesterday afternoon. The T-bar, Chair 1, and handle tow will operate 10:30-5:30, and Chair 2 12:00-5:00.
We have plenty of snow tubing tickets available for today for the 5:00 and 6:30 sessions, with just a few tickets left for the 11:30 and 3:00 sessions. Buy your tickets at https://arcticvalley.org/winter/tubing/.
Note for backcountry skiers & riders: Ski area boundaries are closed for uphill travel. The areas north of Toklat Creek are always open for backcountry travel, and are accessed from the hiking kiosk in the parking lot. No rescue services are available, and no snow safety activities are being performed. Be prepared for thin coverage, hidden obstacles, open water, and avalanche conditions. TRAVEL AT YOUR OWN RISK.

Road Conditions
Updated: Sunday March 16th
We are plowing Arctic Valley Road this morning. Beware of some rough spots where it melted out last week and refroze. As always, 4WD/AWD and/or studs are recommended.
Below is the current schedule for military live fire exercises on Arctic Valley Road:
For most exercises, road guards will allow traffic to flow every 20-30 minutes in each direction. For some exercises, the waits may be 30-40 minutes. The road (unless noted above) should not be ‘closed’. If road guards are communicating longer wait times than those listed above, or telling you the road is closed, please call JBER Range Control at 907-384-6230 and report the issue. They will work to make sure the units conducting training are following the road access rules.
