It's finally here! My second collaborative work, this time with music reaction youtuber Alex Haitz!
This is the final entry in the "Sessions Trilogy" that started with The Sacrifice Sessions, continued with The Salvation Sessions, and now ends with The Solace Sessions. All tree of these works involve some form of process music that limited me to these rules :
1) Everything must go through a long delay that offsets the left and right ears little by little.
2) Most of the material must be live recorded from a microphone.
For The Solace Sessions, I introduced the idea to Alex, who was then inspired to contirbute to the album. While the "base track" as I call it is really anchored in the rules that I created, Alex's contributions are not, while gives the tracks a whole new dimension, with the use of varied instrumentals and soundscapes.
At heart, The Solace Sessions is definitely a New Age record, the aesthetic of it all was very inspired by late-era Talk Talk (we're both huge fans of Mark Hollis... I mean who wouldn't be?), the production was kept very barebones to take advantage of that sweet room noise and give it a close to the heart feel. In the end it's two pretty pieces of solace, like the title says.
A huge thanks to Alex for joining the project, I've been watching your channel for a while beforehand and I really like your vision of music in general. Looking forward to new ideas and projects!
