  • Today is International Day of Charity, a day to celebrate the everyday heroes who choose compassion. 🌟 This welcome pack is what that compassion looks like up close. For a woman arriving at Catherine House, it's often the first thing she's been given in a long time that says: you matter, and you're safe here. Every item inside was chosen and donated by someone who decided that her wellbeing was worth their time and resources. When people lead with kindness like this, they change lives. 💜 Just $50 can provide a welcome pack for a woman arriving at Catherine House. Each pack includes the essentials, toiletries, skincare and more, plus warm, cosy pyjamas. Donate today: https://lnkd.in/dD7Zzeh We've seen incredible generosity from our community this year, proof of what's possible when people show up for each other. From the bottom of our hearts: thank you. Your passion for ending women's homelessness is hope in action.

  • "My life has been all the more easier because of the constant support of Catherine House." Stories like this are the heart of our mission. Every day, we're humbled to walk alongside our women as they rebuild their lives. We believe every woman deserves the space and support to focus on her recovery, without the added weight of navigating life's challenges alone. That's why we're here: to handle the rest, so she can focus on healing. 🏡✨

  • Last night Jaylee and Bec attended the 2Oth Birthday celebration of the SA Power Networks Staff Foundation. This incredible milestone is something the foundation and its employees should be incredibly proud of. Over the past 20 years the foundation has distributed close to $7million to South Australian charities. At Catherine House, we are just one of those charities who have benefited from their generosity and for that we are truly grateful. Congratulations and thank you SA Power Networks 🎉 Jaylee Cooper (FGLF) (MFIA) Rebecca Millard Isabell Al-Nahat Anthony von der Borch

  • Massive shoutout to our incredible Community Ambassadors Kathryn, Sidonie & Trudi! 👏 They sorted through an enormous amount of food donations, stocking every shelf, cupboard and corner of our Crisis Accommodation kitchen. A huge thank you as well to Adelaide's Finest Supermarkets, and everyone who donated during their Winter Food Drive supporting Catherine House. Thanks to this generosity, the women we support will have so many more warm meals and nutritious snacks to enjoy. 💜

  • What a night! We're thrilled to share the final result from Bec and Christine's Trivia Dinner fundraiser, an incredible $47,909 raised! 🙌 On the night, our Fundraising Specialist Gemma shared the realities of women's homelessness in South Australia, shedding light on why our services matter more than ever. A huge thank you to our amazing ambassadors for hosting and bringing together such a wonderful community of supporters. This result wouldn't have been possible without every single person who came along and gave so generously. The funds raised will be split between both Catherine House and Backpacks 4 Kids, helping women and children in South Australia.

  • Small things can mean everything. 💜 One of the women we supported recently shared this after receiving their welcome pack at Catherine House: "I was in tears when I opened the bag of toiletries. Homelessness can be such an isolating experience, it was so nice to have nice things again, and it made me feel like I wasn't alone." Experiencing homelessness doesn't mean losing the right to feel cared for. Something as simple as shampoo, a toothbrush or moisturiser can be a reminder that someone sees you as a person who deserves dignity.

  • Thank you to The Flow Collective, who last week delivered menstrual support women experiencing homelessness at Catherine House. In their own words: "What started as a Year 12 Health & Wellbeing assignment became something we were genuinely passionate about, and we couldn't have done it without the incredible support of everyone who donated, shared our fundraiser and followed along with us." Support like this makes a real difference to the women we walk alongside, thank you. 💜

  • The team at GHD recently came together to donate items from our high needs list, and we loved how they got creative with a team-building sculpture competition! Each team built structures that were judged not just on design, but on how well they met the needs of the women we support. Thank you to GHD for the thoughtful and hands-on generosity for women experiencing homelessness. 💜 💬 Carl Willis, General Manager – South Australia and Northern Territory at GHD, shared: "At GHD, we are committed to making a positive and lasting contribution to the communities where we live and work. Supporting Catherine House aligns with our purpose of creating opportunity through community partnership and social responsibility. Their work empowers women experiencing homelessness to rebuild their lives with dignity, safety and hope, creating meaningful outcomes that strengthen both individuals and our broader community. We are proud to support an organisation delivering such a profound and lasting impact. On a personal level, my family has been working with Catherine House for a number of years. Seeing the positive difference they make in the lives of women experiencing homelessness reinforces the importance of organisations coming together to support those facing significant challenges."

  • Financial abuse can be difficult to recognise, especially when controlling behaviour is disguised as concern, or someone “being better with money”. It can happen to anyone, and it is never the fault of the person experiencing it. If any of these signs feel familiar, consider asking for help. Support is available: • If you are in immediate danger, call 000. • For support about financial abuse, call 1800RESPECT on 1800 737 732, text 0458 737 732 or visit 1800RESPECT.org.au for online support, available 24/7.
