The Mayan ruins of Altun Ha are about 30 miles north of Belize City. The city was occupied from around 900 BC to 1000 AD. The ruins were discovered in the 1950's. Only about one-third of the structures have been excavated. The ruins show how the city looked at about 650 AD. The excavated ruins consists of two plazas: Plaza A and Plaza B.
