Blackthorn Walking Stick with Historical Significance from Ireland

According to family history, this blackthorn walking stick was grown in Porterstown in County Limerick, Ireland and was given to Lighthorse Harry Lee in 1783 by a veteran's group in Baltimore. It was later presented to P. Glassmeen in 1888. A silver-plate is attached that has the following engraved on it:"Presented by M. Lee (Capt.), Erin's pride G.A.A.To P. Glassmeen, 1888." Wood. This rootball blackthorn was presented to US President JFK by one of his Kennedy cousins on his visit to his grandfathers home in Wexford Ireland in 1963. It measures 39" inches long. There is a silver band that goes around, just below the handle and that reads, "Presented by the Relatives of President John F. Kennedy on the Occasion of his Visit to the Ancestral Home 27-6-63." It is housed in the John F. Kennedy Presidential Library and Museum in Boston USA.
