I've tested quite a few Gesso recipes, but this one has worked the best for me so far. For this project you'll need: 3 parts cornstarch, 3 parts baking soda, 1 part Elmer's glue, 1 part white acrylic paint, and 2-3 parts water. First, mix the cornstarch and baking soda together

Process of priming the canvas

1. Clean the Canvas:  Wipe the canvas with a damp cloth to remove any dust or debris.

2. Apply Gesso: Gesso is a primer that helps the paint adhere better and prevents it from soaking into the canvas.Pour a small amount of gesso onto a palette or directly onto the canvas.

I mostly coat both the sides of the canvas.

Use a wide brush or roller to apply a thin, even layer of gesso over the entire canvas surface. Brush in different directions to ensure even coverage.Allow the first coat to dry completely (usually a few hours, depending on the brand and thickness).
